2024-2025 Season Overview

Flatirons VBC is excited to embark on our 26th season of Junior Olympic Volleyball. Our founders were teachers who were also volleyball players and coaches with the goal of elevating volleyball in Boulder County. Our reputation is built upon hiring the very best coaches; they are the backbone of our club. Flatirons Coaches are dedicated and happy to share their passion for volleyball. We firmly believe in the benefit of life lessons which are inherent with team sports, especially volleyball.

Tryouts and early season

Tryouts for the 2025 Season take place beginning July 10, 2024. Pre Tryout Evaluation Open Gyms will be offered in June and the beginning of July. Tryouts begin July 10 with the most important phase of tryouts being the earlier sessions.

After teams are selected, contract signing for returning players takes place on Monday, July 22. Contract signing for players new to Flatirons takes place on Tuesday, July 23.

Middle School players are encouraged to participate on a Gold Crown or CYL Team. The Gold Crown Season runs from August until the end of October. High School players are encouraged to play on their respective school teams.

Flatirons training begins in November, typically after the High School State Tournament. The emphasis is on building strong fundamental skills. Teams practice three times a week during the training phase of the season.

Competitive Season

The competitive season begins on January 5 and runs until the end of April/early May. Our practice sites are Alexander Dawson School in Lafayette, Eldorado PK8 School in Superior and Beautiful Savior Church in Broomfield. During the competitive season, most teams will practice twice a week when they don’t have a tournament and three times a week when they do. Practices are typically Monday/Wednesday/Saturday or Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday. Because we rent school gyms, there will be occasional adjustments or cancellations.

The post season is for select teams who want to extend their season or qualify for National Championship Tournaments. The Beach/Outdoor Program starts in May/June and finishes in early August. Two person teams train in the strategies and techniques of Doubles Volleyball. This is an extremely fun, optional program for girls wanting to play outdoor doubles volleyball.

Players are expected to attend every practice and every tournament except in the case of contagious illness or family emergency.

Flatirons teams are likely to be competing in tournaments over Spring Break and potentially on holidays. Families need to schedule Spring Break travel after the tournament schedule is announced. Players will likely miss some school days; the expected maximum is 3 days of school.
For travel tournaments, players travel with a parent or a trusted adult arranged by the parent. Athletes are not permitted to travel unaccompanied by an adult.

The 2024-2025 Fees will be included with your contract. Payment plans are available through the SportsEngine system. Keep in mind these fees do not cover travel costs, uniforms, added tournaments, post season, USA Volleyball Membership ($70), AAU Membership ($20) for the 2025 Season or the Registration fee.

At this time, our plans are subject to change.

Flatirons VBC participates in the Grocery Gift Card/Rewards programs. Safeway rewards participating customers with 5% of eligible proceeds going back to the player.
The King Soopers reward rate is closer to 2% for customers who enroll in their program and submit reports of rewards to Flatirons on a quarterly basis.

We’re looking forward to a terrific season and we’d love for you to tryout for Flatirons! It’s important to know that we look for hard working, athletic girls who love volleyball and put their team before themselves. Tryouts take place over the course of the Summer; please see our Tryout flyer posted on the Flatirons website: www.Flatironsvbc.com
