2021 Season Overview

Updated September 2, 2020

Flatirons VBC is proud to celebrate our 22nd season of Jr. Olympic Volleyball. We were founded by teachers who were also volleyball players and coaches with the goal of elevating volleyball in Boulder County.  Our reputation is built upon hiring the very best coaches; they are the backbone of our club.  They are dedicated and excited to share their passion for volleyball.  All of us hold a strong belief in the value of life lessons.  These life lessons are infused into practices and competitions.

Teams practice two times a week.  Weather permitting, we will start the season with outdoor practices.  Due to COVID, new practice sites are on the agenda.  Most teams will practice either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday.

There are four distinct seasons at Flatirons Volleyball Club.

  1. Tryouts: August 2 or 3 for 12’s – 14’s and continue till teams are filled.

July 6-8 for 15’s – 18’s and continue till teams are filled.

  1. For 12’s – 14’s, the competitive season begins in late January and runs till April/May.  Travel to National Qualifier Tournaments for Elite and National teams is contingent on the path of the COVID virus.
  2. For 15’s – 18’s, the start of the competitive season is in October. The projected end of the season will be the end of February or after the Colorado Crossroads National Qualifier Tournament in March.
  3. The post season is for select teams who want to extend their season.

In addition, a separate Beach Program starts mid May finishing in early August.  This is an extremely fun, optional program for girls wanting to play outdoor doubles volleyball.

Tournament sites are announced the week before the tournament.

All players are expected to attend every practice and every tournament.

There will be tournaments over Spring Break. Please plan accordingly.

Flatirons will be adhering to COVID regulations set by the State and local officials.  We will stay current on the changing rules and make adjustments as needed.

There is the possibility of a COVID resurgence during the 2020-2021 season.  In the event our season is interrupted, contingency plans for virtual training are in place.  They include but are not limited to physical, mental, strategic, technical training.  Should we have to cancel a large portion of the season, Flatirons will reimburse the entry fee for tournaments we’re not able to attend and adjust season fees accordingly.

As is the case with most clubs, the majority of our expenses are incurred at the beginning of the season.
We will make every effort to refund the maximum amount possible in order to stay viable as a nonprofit business.

The 2021 Fees will be included within your contract.  Payment plans are available through the SportsEngine system.  Keep in mind these fees do not cover uniforms, travel, added tournaments, post season, USA Volleyball Membership for the 2021 Season or registration fees.  Flatirons has lowered the season fees as well as the deposit amount, the tryout fees and the season registration fees in an effort to accommodate a simplified program and in hopes of allowing more girls to participate.

Flatirons VBC participates in the Grocery Gift Card/Rewards program offered by King Soopers and Safeway stores.   Safeway offers 5% of proceeds which are credited to your player’s account at the end of March.  King Soopers offers approximately 2% toward club fees and require you to send a copy of your earnings to Flatirons.
